Summer Hike & Picnic at Edelweiss Cabin
Aug. 30, 2026 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Come at 10 am if you want to hike to Boulder Lake. Lunch will be at about 1 pm. Paper goods and utensils will be provided. Come anytime if you just want to enjoy. If it rains, it’s canceled.

What to bring:
• A ready-to-serve lunch item to share (no water or electricity at the cabin)
• A coooler for your food
• Whatever you would like to drink (including ice)
• Camp chairs

Address: 1643 Meadowbrook Lane, CR 1376

Directions:
From Silverthorne, go about 12 miles north on Highway 9 toward Kremmling. (Some markers you will see: the Blue River Campground on your right, mile marker 110 on your right, a parking area on your right and then Boulder Creek Road, CR 1376, on your left.) If you get to Ute Pass Road, you have gone way too far! Turn left onto Boulder Creek Road.

If you are coming from the north, just turn right on Boulder Creek Road. It is just south of the bridge where Boulder Creek joins the Blue. The turn is the next one south of Sierra Bosque.

Once you turn onto Boulder Creek Road, the road turns right on a bridge over Boulder Creek. You will see a sign that says Meadowbrook Lane. Continue on the road as it turns west (the only way to go) and drive west about 1 1/2 miles. Then you will see the log cabin on your right. Parking is on the lot across (south) of the cabin. Park diagonally. If you cannot walk to the cabin, go past the cabin and drive into the driveway. (A wooden bear with the sign Edelweiss marks the entrance.)

You can get AT&T and Consumer Cellular cell reception. Verizon, etc., does not get cell service. If you cannot get reception and you get lost, go back to Highway 9 until you get reception and call Ann at 970-389-0031.

Carpooling is suggested as there is minimal parking available. If you are going for the hike, keys need to be left in the cars so that they can be moved in case of an emergency.

Questions? Call Ann before Aug. 30 at 970-389-0031 or email almclement@comcast.net.

RYLA Brainstorming Session - Hoosier Room

all are welcome

RYLA is a terrific program. What isn’t terrific is the way we’ve managed it — too much has fallen on one person. Between promoting the program, finding kids, applications, interviews, two Rotary clubs, the RYLA Foundation and everything else, we've essentially created a volunteer job that's too big.
We can design this much better.
And that's why I'm asking you. You are some of the people in our club who see possibilities, know our community, get things done — and have good ideas.
I want to put the whole RYLA process on the table and spend 90 minutes asking:
What can we simplify? What can we automate? What can we eliminate? What could easily be divided among several people? And how do we make this something fun and rewarding to be part of, rather than overwhelming to run?
This is NOT a cleverly disguised request for you to volunteer! You can do it if something grabs you, but there's no obligation. I'm asking for your ideas and your brain.

Youth Exchange "Welcome to Colorado" Hike
Sep. 13, 2026 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

We are pleased to invite this year's group of inbound Rotary Youth Exchange students along with their host families, YEO’s, Rotarian counsellors, ROTEX students, and other friends of Rotary to a tradition begun in 2014, our annual District 5450 Youth Exchange "Welcome to Colorado" hike to Rotary Peak.

Participants will gather at 8:30 am on Sunday, Sept.13 for group photos at the trailhead on the west side of Highway 6 at the top of Loveland Pass. It is a relatively safe & easy route, 3 miles (5km) roundtrip with a net gain in altitude of 489 feet (150m) to the peak at 12,479 feet (3,800m), with spectacular scenery both east and west as it follows the Continental Divide. We expect to be back down to the trailhead by about 11 am to enjoy provided refreshments.
