all are welcome RYLA is a terrific program. What isn’t terrific is the way we’ve managed it — too much has fallen on one person. Between promoting the program, finding kids, applications, interviews, two Rotary clubs, the RYLA Foundation and everything else, we've essentially created a volunteer job that's too big.
We can design this much better.
And that's why I'm asking you. You are some of the people in our club who see possibilities, know our community, get things done — and have good ideas.
I want to put the whole RYLA process on the table and spend 90 minutes asking:
What can we simplify? What can we automate? What can we eliminate? What could easily be divided among several people? And how do we make this something fun and rewarding to be part of, rather than overwhelming to run?
This is NOT a cleverly disguised request for you to volunteer! You can do it if something grabs you, but there's no obligation. I'm asking for your ideas and your brain.

Sep. 13, 2026 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
We are pleased to invite this year's group of inbound Rotary Youth Exchange students along with their host families, YEO’s, Rotarian counsellors, ROTEX students, and other friends of Rotary to a tradition begun in 2014, our annual District 5450 Youth Exchange "Welcome to Colorado" hike to Rotary Peak.
Participants will gather at 8:30 am on Sunday, Sept.13 for group photos at the trailhead on the west side of Highway 6 at the top of Loveland Pass. It is a relatively safe & easy route, 3 miles (5km) roundtrip with a net gain in altitude of 489 feet (150m) to the peak at 12,479 feet (3,800m), with spectacular scenery both east and west as it follows the Continental Divide. We expect to be back down to the trailhead by about 11 am to enjoy provided refreshments. |
