It must be summer because two Summit County Rotary annual events have officially kicked off this week: Car Raffle fundraiser and Summit Rotary golf.
CAR RAFFLE
Check out our dedicated Car Raffle webpage on the Home page of our ClubRunner site for details about the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport - Big Bend 4X4 vehicle. Many thanks to Chris Manwill and Summit Ford for supplying this beauty! Ticket buyers can win a 3-year lease on this handsome Bronco OR take home $20,000 in cash.
Car Raffle is our biggest club fundraiser of the year. Last year our net was over $40,000 because YOU helped make this possible. All Car Raffle profits go directly to our Summit Rotary programs such as scholarships, free school supplies, 365Health, our Local Grants, and other important community service projects.
This fundraiser is an all-hands-on-deck event for all club members. Each member will be assigned and is expected to sell a ticket packet containing 19 tickets worth $130 (15 for $100 plus 4 for $30). If every member sells their ticket packet ~ $13,000 will be raised which covers 2/3 of the prize cost. We need to cover all of our costs AND build a profit. How do we do this? In-person sales to the public by club members and online sales.
Here is the link to Car Raffle SignUp Genius mobile page to reserve your volunteer spot to sell tickets at great locations around our community such as the free Thursday Frisco concerts (first one on June 15th - with Bob Toth!) and the Friday Dillon Farmers Market (first one on June 16th). This link is also being published as a QR code (see below) to make it super easy for club members to sign up on the go throughout the summer. Remember, this club fundraiser only works because YOU participate. Jim Brook still has a few behind the scenes Car Raffle jobs available for those members who prefer to help make this fundraiser successful in ways other than ticket selling.
SUMMIT ROTARY GOLF
Our past president and District Governor, Sandy Mortensen, has once again volunteered to oversee our club's golf program this summer. Thank you Sandy! Summit Rotary golf starts on Tuesday June 13 at the Breckenridge Golf Course. Please see Sandy's program description below this message. Make sure you follow Sandy's instructions to get your name on her master golf list if you want to join in this fun Rotary program throughout the summer.
TRANSITION DINNER Saturday June 24th
Rob Phipps, PE,will be hosting our club's transition dinner meeting on Saturday June 24th at the Frisco Adventure Lodge at 6:00 PM. All members are invited to this free catered dinner to help me pass the president's baton to Rob. This dinner is always a fun event as we reminisce about the Rotary year just passed, thank outgoing club board members , and then welcome our new incoming club president. Make sure you and your guest save this date. Rob will pass around a signup sheet at our next meeting to get a headcount for the caterer, Black Diamond Gourmet Catering.

Our Annual Car Raffle is a key source of funds for our service projects. All members are expected to participate at least at the minimum level of selling or gifting a personal packet of 19 tickets (only $130+). We need at least, and preferably more than, half of our members to be active in sales to the public and in various committee roles, some of which are still open. Rotary and friends, golf begins Tuesday June 13! We will be playing on Tuesdays at the Breckenridge Golf Course. Sandy Mortensen will be reserving tee times at 6:30 am on Fridays and she will need to know by Thursday evening if you want a tee time the following Tuesday. Friends and guests are welcome but they must contact Sandy so a firm headcount is known before Friday morning. Sandy will send a reminder email to remind you to contact her if you want to play.
$24 for 9 holes for Breckenridge residents, walking.

The Rotary Club of Summit County is seeking host families for the 2023-24 academic year.
Our club will be sponsoring two outbound Summit High School students, going to spend one of the best years of their lives in Sweden and Finland. In turn, we will host two foreign students who will live in our wonderful community and attend SHS next year.
Each student will stay with three different Summit County families, so each host family has a student live with them for three months. It is a fun, educational, eye-opening way to bring the world together and make international connections.

Summit County Rotary Charitable Foundation has been accepted to the Kroger Community Rewards Program. Once you link your City Market Shopper's Card to Summit County Rotary Charitable Foundation, and swipe your City Market Shopper’s Card when shopping, SCRCF will earn a reward.
1. Create a City Market digital account -- Use this link to create a City Market digital account (if you don't already have one).
2. Link your Shoppers Card to SCRCF:
-Sign in to your digital account. Make sure you have a preferred store selected to view participating organizations.
-Look for Community Rewards on the left hand bar.
-Enter Summit County Rotary Charitable Foundation or the "NPO" number PV058
-Click “Save”.
If you need to review or revisit the selected organization, you can always do so under your Account details.
3. SCRCG organization earns.
Any transactions moving forward using the Shopper’s Card number associated with your digital account will be applied to the program, at no added cost to you. According to internet: Gmail offers an option to add specific addresses or domains as "safe" so they aren't automatically marked as spam, known as a "Whitelist." Your Whitelists must be managed and set by you. If you want to accept all email sent from a specific address, follow these instructions:
Log in to your Gmail
Click the gear icon in the top-right, and select Settings.
Click the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
Click Create at New Filter.
In the pop-up window, in the From field enterthe clubrunner email addresses listed above separated by OR. example mailservice@clubrunner.ca OR @clubrunner.email
The Membership Committee needs new Rotary members (especially people who have joined Rotary in the last 2 - 3 years) to join the Committee to help us meet our challenges in attracting and retaining new members. The Committee meets as needed to discuss approaches in how we can add, and involve, new members. We need to recruit new folks to keep our club vibrant and involved in the community!
A Prospective Member should attend 3 meetings before turning in his/her application, sponsor form, a short bio and $50 application fee to the Membership Chairman, David Guignard, or to any one on the Membership Committee. The application will be presented to the Membership Committee for approval. Once approved, the applicant's bio will be posted in our bulletin for 3 weeks. If there are no questions about the Prospective Member, the induction will be scheduled. Two categories of Membership are available – a Family Membership and a Corporate Membership. Please contact an individual on the Membership Committee for details on these new types of Membership.
