We had a successful launch of our Ice Melt device on Tuesday morning at Dillon Marina with the help from the Summit County Sheriff's department, which included Alex Rae Cooper's new husband! A professional videographer/photographer was there to document the occasion as was 9News out of Denver. Jennyfer Vik was the lucky one to ride the police hovercraft out on the lake first, find the best spot for the Ice Melt device, and then wait patiently by herself out on the lake as the hovercraft returned to the marina for the device. Rob Phipps finished outfitting the Ice Melt device with the new electronic sensor system minutes before it launched. It was a beautiful morning, warm and sunny, with a good number of Summit Rotariansf in attendance. Now our Ice Melt contest starts in earnest! We will be selling tickets at the Frisco Nordic Center this Saturday at the annual Frisco Brewski. Remember friends and family and make sure they buy their tickets soon!
The annual District 5450 Conference is scheduled for Saturday April 29th at the Cable Center in Denver. The annual Conference is always a fun and informative event with many Rotarians from all over our District attending. This year there is a great lineup of presenters including the Peace Corps President, the ShelterBox President, and the Rocky Mountain RYLA Board President among others. There is a special presentation scheduled which I will talk about at our next Tuesday club meeting....an exciting and unique Rotary story, all rolled into one.
Registration for the District Conference is online on the District website. A special price for first time attendees is offered at $100 for the FULL 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM program including lunch and dinner. It would be great if we could get at least 10 Summit Rotarians to attend this important annual event to represent our club. More info to come at next Tuesday's meeting.
I'm sure you have all heard Woody, Rob and I talk about ClubRunner (CR) our Rotary homepage. This is the platform that our club, and almost every other Rotary club, uses as their club database, newsletter publisher, and online toolkit. CR is directly connected to Rotary International which makes it super easy to transfer membership and club data back and forth. CR has just announced the return of their popular online Changeover Training Seriesfrom April 14th through April 23rd. These online webinars are offered at both beginner and advanced level to better prepare incoming committee chairs and board members for their new roles and responsibilities.
So, you are not a committee chair or on the board? No problem. These webinars are open and free to all Rotarians. CR contains a wealth of information about our club and Rotary in general. Learn more about this extremely useful platform that we use to run our club every day. It would be great to have more club members familiar with this platform.

Club Service Committee Chairperson: involves activities that affect the smooth operation of our Rotary club. The Club Service Committee Chair oversees a number of committees that are responsible for our club bulletin, social committee, club bylaws and inventory of club flags. As the Committee Chair, you will participate in our club's monthly board meetings, communicate with your committee members and collaborate with other club members as needed.
Marketing Committee Chair Position
The duties are wide open to create and execute those things which promote our club motto of "making good things happen, in our community, in the world and in ourselves." You will work closely and coordinate with the club president regarding your creative ideas. You will work with our community assets like Krystal93, Summit Daily News, Rotary Social Media, Rotary Website, and other media as appropriate. You will also work directly with the Rotary Sponsor person to learn and further develop the Corporate Sponsors program.
For the right person, this world is your oyster to display your talent.

Email spam filters often include the ability to "whitelist" certain sender IP addresses, email addresses or domain names to protect their email from being rejected or sent to a junk mail folder.
From Wickipedia: A whitelist is (1) a list of email addresses that a mail server or email client program is configured to accept as valid, incoming mail. Also called a "safe senders list," only messages from addresses on the list are allowed, and all the rest are discarded. (2) A list of valid domain names that a mail server is configured to accept. All mail from users with that domain are allowed.
Gmail:
According to internet: Gmail offers an option to add specific addresses or domains as "safe" so they aren't automatically marked as spam, known as a "Whitelist." Your Whitelists must be managed and set by you. If you want to accept all email sent from a specific address, follow these instructions:
Log in to your Gmail
Click the gear icon in the top-right, and select Settings.
Click the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
Click Create at New Filter.
In the pop-up window, in the From field enterthe clubrunner email addresses listed above separated by OR. example mailservice@clubrunner.ca OR @clubrunner.email
The Membership Committee needs new Rotary members (especially people who have joined Rotary in the last 2 - 3 years) to join the Committee to help us meet our challenges in attracting and retaining new members. The Committee meets as needed to discuss approaches in how we can add, and involve, new members. The Summit Rotary Club is now below 100 members, and we need to recruit new folks to keep our club vibrant and involved in the community!
A Prospective Member should attend 3 zoom meetings before turning in his/her application, sponsor form, a short bio and $50 application fee to the Membership Chairman, Mike Connolly, or to any one on the Membership Committee. The application will be presented to the Membership Committee for approval. Once approved, the applicant's bio will be posted in our bulletin for 3 weeks. If there are no questions about the Prospective Member, the induction will be scheduled. Two new categories of Membership have recently been approved – a Family Membership and a Corporate Membership. Please contact an individual on the Membership Committee for details on these new types of Membership.
