My Inspiration

As President, I receive a lot of notifications—team meetings, brainstorming sessions, events big and small. And what I see time and again is this: people show up. They volunteer their time, energy, and ideas, all with the same goal—to make our club better.

Take our recent Membership meeting. Over a dozen thoughtful, motivated members gathered to tackle an important challenge: how to attract and engage Rotarians in meaningful, lasting ways. Everyone brought ideas. Not all the same, not always in agreement—but always with shared purpose.

That’s what I love about Rotary. We don’t wait for perfect answers. We collaborate. We listen. We adapt. And because of that, our solutions are stronger, our community richer.

It’s not always easy. But it’s always worth it. That willingness to show up, to roll up sleeves, to work through differences—that’s what makes us Rotarians.

The Flipside

Last week, I shared that this will be the final year of our Car Raffle. I also asked—really, I implored—everyone to dig deep and help us finish strong by signing up for two selling shifts.

Here’s the hard truth: fewer than half of our members have taken even one shift. And when I look at the sign-up sheet, I don’t see new faces. That’s disappointing.

I know street selling isn’t everyone’s favorite. It’s not glamorous. But it is vital. This fundraiser is what fuels so much of the good we do in the community. If we don’t finish strong, we risk going into next year with less ability to serve—and that would be a shame after all we’ve built together.

So I’m asking again:

  • If you haven’t signed up yet, please do.
  • If you’ve done one shift, consider another.
  • If you’ve never tried it, give it a shot—you might surprise yourself.

This is our last lap. Let’s cross the finish line as the strong, committed, and community-minded club we all know we are.

With sincere gratitude,

Judi
