Proposed new (actually returning) member: Don Sather has been approved by the Membership Committee. Employed in the computer industry with IBM and Honeywell. Started and ran a solar energy company. Partner in a real estate and property management company. Purchased the Frisco lumberyard in 1984 and grew the business in Summit County for 28 years. Developed the BigHorn Center in Silverthorne. Received recognition from the National Renewable Energy Labs (NREL), State of Colorado, and Dept. of Energy. Have grown the Leadville hardware store over the last ten years. Don has served on numerous Private, Public, and Not-for-Profit boards of directors. There were business and health issues that caused Don’s resigning from the Rotary Club of Summit County several years ago. Those are now behind him and he is excited about the opportunity to rejoin Rotary. Don knows many of the current members and Rotary projects and believes he can contribute in numerous ways. As a past Club officer, board member, and President, and having served on the District Youth Exchange Committee, he is very familiar with much of the workings of Rotary and believes that knowledge and experience can benefit the Summit Club in many ways. Other Membership Committee News: We want to thank all of those sponsors who are identifying community leaders/business professionals and bringing them to our meetings. Remember, a Prospective Member should attend 3 meetings before turning in his/her application, sponsor form, a short bio and $100 application fee to the Membership Director, Meg Boyer or any one on the Membership Committee. The application will be presented to the Membership Committee for approval and then the Board of Directors. Once approved, the applicant's bio will be posted in our bulletin for 3 weeks. If there are no questions about the Prospective Member the induction will be scheduled. The primary sponsor will mentor the new member through the Red Badge process. We encourage all members to interact with Prospective/New Members as much as possible. One of the Red Badge requirements is to be a greeter 3 times. Because our club is growing and we are experiencing so many guests, greeters are very important. You don't have to be a new member to be a greeter. It is just one more way of participating in Club Service.
