Hello Rotarians!
It is another gorgeous day in Summit~ And I am busy running around packing a bag because I am driving to Colorado Springs to spend the weekend with my parents.

This is a big deal! My parents have been quarantining very diligently for the past year. No hugs. No family dinners. But now that we all are all at least two weeks post vaccination, I am welcomed into their home again! Happy Day!! And I have been working a lot lately, adding vaccination clinics on to my full time gig so I feel almost giddy at the thought of lounging with a cup of coffee, chatting about family members and hanging with the folks! I might even see my brother... well, we'll see ...

Thank you to the Rotarians who added their names to the list of people willing to be interviewed by high school students about their professional lives. If you look back at the road that your life has taken, then think about what you thought you wanted to become when you were in high school, how different is that past dream from the reality? I am thankful for the turns that my life has taken that have brought me here. Thankful for the random choices made that turned out to be a pivot that led me in a new direction.

Have a great weekend until we see each other, either in person or over zoom for our meeting on Tuesday. If you are coming in person, please remember to sign up to attend. And as always, wear your mask, keep physically distanced, and wash your hands!

Thank you!
Stay safe~

RCAT Update

The RCAT met on December 16. We welcomed two new members- Jennie Stevens and Tina Cunningham- from the Breckenridge Club.

We had two guests- Merrill Glustrom from the Boulder Club, who spoke on a project on e-waste and computer refurbishing in Israel and Palestine, and Andrew McKean, from the Jeffco Rotary Club, who spoke on an idea for public exhibits on solutions to climate change. This prompted a discussion by the club as to whether we could work on a local exhibit, to educate the public on solutions that are available to combat climate change. Several club members are interested in being trained by High Country Conservation as Zero Waste Ambassadors.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, January 13th, at 7:30 pm.

Update on Breckenridge Cub Scout Pack 187
Cub Pack 187 Chocolate Bar Sales !

Our Rotary Club serves as the Chartered Organization for Cub Pack 187, which is self funded through dues and this sweet annual fundraising event.   The Cubs usually sell in person in the City Market lobby during the holiday season, but this year they have adapted by moving sales online and offering delivery to homes throughout Summit County.   And even if you're not a chocolate fan, donations are welcome. Tell your friends and neighbors too!

Membership Update
The Membership Committee needs new Rotary members to join the committee to help us meet our challenges in attracting and retaining new members.  The Committee meets as needed to discuss approaches in how we can add, and involve, new members.

Given our COVID-19 social distancing meeting structure we want to thank all of those sponsors who are identifying community leaders/business professionals and suggesting they consider joining Rotary.  A Prospective Member should attend 3 zoom meetings before turning in his/her application, sponsor form, a short bio and $100 application fee to the Membership Director, Mike Connolly, or any one on the Membership Committee.  The application will be presented to the Membership Committee for approval and then the Board of Directors.  Once approved, the applicant's bio will be posted in our bulletin for 3 weeks.  If there are no questions about the Prospective Member the induction will be scheduled.

Membership Committee Members are: Chairman - Mike Connolly, Julianne Gilchrist, Tom Marmins, Sandy Mortensen, Ann Clement, Susan Juergensmeier, Stephanie Katz, David "Woody" Woodland, Meg Boyer and Mike Spry.
