I announced on Tuesday that our Summit County Rotary Charitable Foundation (SCRCF) has been accepted into the Kroeger/City Market community rewards program. Any member who shops at City Market card can now allocate their community rewards dollars toward SCRCF. See the instructions further down in the newsletter on how to obtain a City Market card, if you don't already have one, and how to choose SCRCF as your preferred nonprofit. We had an amazing presentation by the Summit County Sheriff's SMART program officers on Tuesday. The SMART task force is so impressive with their mental health work in our community! I'm grateful and also proud to know Sheriff's department has made the resources available to fund and staff the SMART program in Summit County. Daric Gutzwiller, the SMART Lieutenant who spoke on Tuesday told me afterwards that they are always looking for reality based volunteer actors for SMART training feedback once a month. As a volunteer you are given a role to play in a hypothetical mental health situation that the SMART team may encounter. Volunteers are asked to provide feedback after the role playing on their experience.....was it helpful that the SMART officer said this? or acted like this? If reality role playing is up your alley, and you want to contribute to helping our community SMART program become even better, consider contacting Daric at daric.gutzwiller@summitcountyco.gov.
The Frisco Senior Center and Summit Seniors asked me to tell club members about their upcoming online campaign to shore up Summit County's struggling Meals on Wheels program. Due to rising food costs and continued community demand for hundreds of meals per month the Meals on Wheels program is very much in the red. Grant funding is not covering the shortfall so the Summit Seniors has decided to take on this cause with a one week online campaign to raise $45,000 from March 21st to 28th. Every penny raised will be contributed to Meals on Wheels to help sustain this critically important community program. This program is not for homebound seniors only....any community member that finds themselves unable to prepare meals for whatever reason (recovery, surgery, illness, etc) is eligible to participate in Meals on Wheels. All donations are tax-deductible. You don't have to wait until March 21st - you can donate now by visiting the Summit Seniors Campaign web page. The Summit Seniors thanks all Rotarians in advance for their generosity and support.

Summit County Rotary Charitable Foundation has been accepted to the Kroger Community Rewards Program. Once you link your City Market Shopper's Card to Summit County Rotary Charitable Foundation, and swipe your City Market Shopper’s Card when shopping, SCRCF will earn a reward.
1. Create a City Market digital account -- Use this link to create a City Market digital account (if you don't already have one).

Our club has partnered with ShelterBox, a worldwide disaster relief organization, to provide aid to earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria. ShelterBox provides temporary shelter — including durable tents, blankets, stoves, cookware, solar lights and water filters, as well as warm clothes and activity sets for children — for those impacted by the earthquake. Over the past 11 years, ShelterBox has operated in Syria due to the ongoing war there and is now on the ground in Turkey as well.

We had a great discussion of Demon Copperhead. We have decided that our next (non-fiction) book will be "The Song of the Cell: An Exploration of Medicine and the New Human" by Siddhartha Mukherjee.

Members of the Plastics Team, Cindy, Rick, Rob, Susan and Marcy, picked up, processed and delivered 97.2 pounds of plastic this week! This included plastic from Rotary members, BreckCreates, iFurnish, Mountain Comfort, Sherwin-Williams, Summit High School, Stork and Bear, and Chico's! Please consider joining the team!

Club Service Committee Chairperson: involves activities that affect the smooth operation of our Rotary club. The Club Service Committee Chair oversees a number of committees that are responsible for our club bulletin, social committee, club bylaws and inventory of club flags. As the Committee Chair, you will participate in our club's monthly board meetings, communicate with your committee members and collaborate with other club members as needed.
Marketing Committee Chair Position
The duties are wide open to create and execute those things which promote our club motto of "making good things happen, in our community, in the world and in ourselves." You will work closely and coordinate with the club president regarding your creative ideas. You will work with our community assets like Krystal93, Summit Daily News, Rotary Social Media, Rotary Website, and other media as appropriate. You will also work directly with the Rotary Sponsor person to learn and further develop the Corporate Sponsors program.

Also called a "safe senders list," only messages from addresses on the list are allowed, and all the rest are discarded. (2) A list of valid domain names that a mail server is configured to accept. All mail from users with that domain are allowed.

According to internet: Gmail offers an option to add specific addresses or domains as "safe" so they aren't automatically marked as spam, known as a "Whitelist." Your Whitelists must be managed and set by you. If you want to accept all email sent from a specific address, follow these instructions:
Log in to your Gmail
Click the gear icon in the top-right, and select Settings.
Click the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
Click Create at New Filter.

The Membership Committee needs new Rotary members (especially people who have joined Rotary in the last 2 - 3 years) to join the Committee to help us meet our challenges in attracting and retaining new members. The Committee meets as needed to discuss approaches in how we can add, and involve, new members. We need to recruit new folks to keep our club vibrant and involved in the community!
A Prospective Member should attend 3 meetings before turning in his/her application, sponsor form, a short bio and $50 application fee to the Membership Chairman, David Guignard, or to any one on the Membership Committee. The application will be presented to the Membership Committee for approval. Once approved, the applicant's bio will be posted in our bulletin for 3 weeks. If there are no questions about the Prospective Member, the induction will be scheduled. Two categories of Membership are available – a Family Membership and a Corporate Membership. Please contact an individual on the Membership Committee for details on these new types of Membership.
